?a?i? al-Bukhari (Arabic: ???? ????????),is one of the Al-Kutub Al-Sittah (six major hadiths) of sunni Islam.These prophetic traditions, or hadith, were collected bythe Persian Muslim scholar Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, afterbeing transmitted orally for generations. Sunni Muslims view this as one of thethree most trusted collections of hadith along with SahihMuslim and al-Muwatta. In some circles, it is considered themost authentic book after the Qur'an. The Arabic word Sahih translatesas authentic or correct, and a book of authentic Ahadeethcompiled by Imam Bukhari.

BeforeBukhari had started to collect ahaadeeth there had actually been quite a fewpublished books of ahadith in which Bukhari found ahadith of both weak andstrong testimonials, which gave him the idea to compile such a book containingahadith of only strong testimonials. Ishaaq Ibn Rahway agreed to this idea whichstrengthened Bukhari's decision.
